Ori Part 3 returned Jim to Gumo’s Hideout and Moon Grotto with one highly sophisticated strategy: Jim Smart, Jim Solve, Jim Save, Jim Jim. BeepBoopJim filed this one under “confidence through repetition.”
First, the Metroidvania started opening up in a big way. Another Ancestral Tree gave Jim Double Jump. Naturally, this created roughly 400 new places that suddenly required investigation.
Soon after, Gumo returned the Water Vein. As a result, the route into the Ginso Tree finally opened and Ori’s main story moved forward.
Inside the Ginso Tree, the platforming got serious. Portals, spikes, projectiles, and timed puzzles all entered the file. Meanwhile, “Jim Smart” became less of a statement and more of a legally binding affirmation.
Then came Bash.
At first, the ability took some practice. However, once Jim realised he could redirect enemy projectiles while launching Ori in the opposite direction, the whole game changed.
The new movement opened routes that had looked impossible minutes earlier. Eventually, the heart of the Ginso Tree came into reach, and Jim cleared the corruption around the Element of Water.
That also meant Ori could finally swim without immediately becoming dead Ori.
Naturally, major story progress was followed by wandering away from the objective.
The backtracking paid off with Life Cells, Energy Cells, Ability Cells, secret areas, and another Ancestral Tree. This time, the reward was Stomp.
Now Ori could Double Jump, Dash, Bash off enemies and projectiles, and violently introduce himself to the ground from above.
This was getting extremely good.
Meanwhile, the official save strategy remained active. Jim claimed that he saves every 11 seconds and then spent the rest of the stream gathering evidence in support of that statement.
Chat also wandered through mechanical keyboards, Canadian video games, CanCon, and tiny food economics. Somewhere along the way, Jim revealed that he once wanted to grow up to become a fire truck.
Not a firefighter.
The truck.
By the end of Ori Part 3, Nibel felt much more open. Double Jump, Bash, Stomp, and swimming had turned every old route into a new possibility.
Next up: explore the newly accessible paths, keep collecting upgrades, and continue proving that Jim Smart becomes true if repeated often enough.
Jim Smart, Jim Solve, Jim Save, Jim Jim.
