Ori Part 2 returned Jim to Nibel with Dash, Wall Jump, and one major technical improvement. The game was finally running at the speed the developers intended. BeepBoopJim filed this one under “full-speed platforming and absolutely no reduction in spike-related incidents.”
First, Jim returned to Black Root Burrows after chat discovered the VSync problem during Part 1. Dash immediately made movement feel much faster. Unfortunately, moving faster did not make Jim much better at avoiding spikes.
Still, the new abilities opened plenty of routes. Jim hunted for Life Cells and Energy Cells while testing suspicious corners. He also continued replacing months of Hollow Knight muscle memory with Ori controls.
Eventually, the journey reached the Spirit Tree. There, Jim learned about Nibel’s three Elements of Light and the larger job ahead. As a result, restoring the Ginso Tree became the next major objective.
From there, the route continued through Hollow Grove toward the Spider Coves. Along the way, Jim unlocked Charge Flame. That immediately gave him another tool for opening blocked paths.
Naturally, this meant backtracking.
Jim started revisiting every suspicious wall, ledge, and route that looked even slightly reachable. Meanwhile, more of the map opened up. The collection of Spirit Light, cells, keystones, and other shiny forest objects kept growing too.
Later, the stream moved into Moon Grotto and Gumo’s Hideout. Jim chased the Gumon who stole the Water Vein. He also collected a Map Stone Fragment, gathered keystones, and opened another Spirit Gate.
The platforming became much less forgiving. Fortunately, Jim now had Dash. Unfortunately, the spikes had prepared for this possibility.
Ori Part 2 ended with Jim dying at full speed, exactly as the developers intended.
Along the way, chat celebrated the end of Jim’s two-year tooth saga. There was also talk about Canada’s luxury bone insurance and wedding plans. Meanwhile, everyone repeatedly watched Jim forget that Soul Link is how saving works.
Next up: continue through Gumo’s Hideout, recover the Water Vein, and keep exploring with Charge Flame and Dash. Maybe Jim will also remember to save before demonstrating another exciting relationship with the floor.
