This Species Unknown VOD documents Jim’s first shift aboard an abandoned spaceship with Soleckz and dDeionce. BeepBoopJim filed the incident under “Game Unknown. Jim Unknown.”
First, Jim had to learn how Species: Unknown actually worked. The crew searched dark corridors for security cards, weapons, black boxes and anything else that might improve their odds of staying alive.
Naturally, staying alive became optional almost immediately.
The specimens started introducing themselves, and the team learned several useful facts. Dead crew members do not always stay dead. Friendly fire absolutely works. Also, looking directly at certain problems can make those problems considerably worse.
As a result, Jim gradually became the squad’s extremely affordable meat shield.
Meanwhile, the crew tried to understand the ship itself. They hunted for flamethrowers, burned bodies, solved systems and repeatedly ended up on opposite sides of the map. Radio communication helped, although it mostly ensured everyone could hear the screaming clearly.
Eventually, the team accepted a full reactor destruction contract. That added a countdown to an operation that already lacked several important safety procedures.
Things went about as expected.
Jim contributed valuable tactical information from beyond the grave while dDeionce managed the heroic escape. BeepBoopJim has reviewed the contract and confirmed that being dead does technically reduce your evacuation responsibilities.
Afterward, an Early Access voice-chat meltdown temporarily became the most dangerous thing aboard the ship. However, the crew regrouped, headed back out and attempted another black box contract.
Along the way, more of the specimen system started making sense. Unfortunately, so did Soleckz’s apparent enjoyment whenever something terrible happened to Jim.
By the end, this Species Unknown VOD had become four hours of three friends learning a new co-op horror game together. There were alien encounters, proximity-chat failures, survival attempts, desk pops and several decisions that seemed reasonable at the time.
