Ori Part 6 began with one objective that had already survived several streams: find the Sunstone. BeepBoopJim filed this one under “the magic rock remains at large, but Jim finally found the frozen ruins.”
First, Jim explored old routes with Kuro’s Feather, Climb, Triple Jump, Bash, Stomp, and Air Dash. The growing movement kit opened more of Nibel, although the map continued causing several geographical disagreements.
Eventually, the search revealed a new requirement. Before reaching the Sunstone, Ori needed to restore the Forlorn Ruins.
There was one small problem.
Jim had no idea where the Forlorn Ruins were.
After an extended demonstration of east-versus-west expertise, one helpful nudge finally revealed a passage Jim had been staring directly at.
Welcome to the Forlorn Ruins.
The new area quickly became one of Jim’s favourites. Here, the story revealed more about the Gumon and the incredible structures they built with the Spirit Tree’s light. It also made Gumo’s story considerably sadder.
Then gravity stopped behaving normally.
Using the Gumon light vessels, Jim walked across walls, changed orientation, carried glowing objects, and avoided increasingly rude spikes. Somehow, gravity became intuitive roughly half a second before each death.
It was extremely cool.
Eventually, Ori reached the heart of the ruins and restored the Element of Winds in memory of the Gumon. That immediately triggered one of the wildest escape sequences of the playthrough so far.
Kuro’s Feather, Bash, wind currents, and increasingly desperate platforming all entered the file.
Afterward, the game revealed more of Kuro’s story. Jim finally learned what happened to her family and why she had been hunting Ori.
Unfortunately, the terrifying murder owl was also a parent trying to protect her last child.
This information arrived several streams after Jim had begun bullying every owl he encountered.
BeepBoopJim has forwarded the matter to Owl Relations.
By the end of Ori Part 6, the Element of Winds was restored and new routes had opened across Nibel. Most importantly, the path toward Sorrow Pass and the Sunstone finally looked achievable.
Before the game, Old Man Jim also returned to a local newspaper from exactly 100 years earlier. The September 1926 file included Lord Byng avoiding the King-Byng Affair, France challenging Boston’s Bean Town credentials, and Vancouver Island gold prospecting.
Normal newspaper stuff.
The stream also survived three brief connection drops early in the gameplay. NoDrop kept the session intact while OBS reconnected, so the entire night remained one Twitch VOD.
Finally, the channel closed the night with its 100th raid.
Ori Part 6 accomplished a lot.
Still no Sunstone.
But we are getting there.
