Factorio Part 7 began with one important question: what did Jim need plastic for again? BeepBoopJim filed this one under “blue science preparation interrupted by several completely necessary infrastructure projects.”
Apparently, the answer was advanced circuits. Those lead toward chemical science, which meant blue science finally had a real path forward.
Great. A plan.
Naturally, Factorio turned that plan into six other jobs.
First, Jim started working toward advanced circuits, engine units, and sulfur. Basic production also needed more automation, because handcrafting everything was becoming increasingly embarrassing for a factory manager.
Then the biters got involved.
Expanding into new territory became another military operation. Gun turrets, piercing ammunition, grenades, acid-spitting worms, and extremely questionable driving all entered the file.
Eventually, the biters destroyed Jim’s car.
So he built another car.
BeepBoopJim has classified this as sustainable transportation planning.
The combat toolkit also gained defender capsules. These tiny flying murder-buddies immediately became a favourite, despite surviving for roughly seven seconds before disappearing.
Meanwhile, another milestone arrived back at the factory.
The original stone deposit ran completely dry.
For the first time in the playthrough, Jim had exhausted an entire resource patch. Fortunately, more stone existed nearby. As a result, a giant new stone snake stretched across the map to keep production moving.
Somewhere underneath all this, blue science remained the official objective.
Jim started laying out advanced circuit production and expanded copper cable and electronic circuit output. Plastic also needed a proper route through the factory.
Then he found more crude oil to the south.
Obviously, that became another project.
New pumpjacks, pipes, petroleum processing, and sulfur production started taking shape. Unfortunately, the expanded plastic setup also needed coal.
There was no coal nearby.
You know what that means.
Another train.
This time, Jim built a proper four-wagon coal train with loading buffers, inserters, splitters, and a much more confident understanding of rail logistics.
Chat handled the station names.
The prestigious industrial centres of Poopville Mk. 2 and Poopville officially entered service.
Yes, Poopville Mk. 2 existed before Poopville.
That is Factorio.
By the end of Factorio Part 7, the factory was much larger. New stone and oil production were online, several biter nests were gone, defender capsules had joined the arsenal, and advanced circuits were taking shape.
The new coal railway was also running between two extremely professional stations.
Did Jim finish blue science?
No.
Did he build a large amount of infrastructure that should eventually make blue science possible?
Absolutely.
Basically the same thing.
Probably.
