Valheim Part 22 with Soleckz began with unfortunate confirmation that the Fog Boat Incident had, in fact, happened. BeepBoopJim filed this one under “the save remembered everything management hoped it would forget.”
First, Jim and Sol loaded into Valheim 1.0 and discovered that they were naked. Their gear remained across the map, while the original boat was having a difficult time continuing its career.
Naturally, another professional Viking recovery mission began.
Jim and Sol gathered food, arrows, fine wood, bronze nails, resin, and whatever spare equipment the base could provide. After that, they built another boat and expanded the portal network for the trip back toward the Swamp and Plains border.
The return journey brought the usual local hospitality. Deathsquitos, goblins, leeches, blobs, and skeletons all entered the recovery file. However, the team established a forward portal in the Black Forest and finally reached the missing bodies.
The gear came home.
Somewhere during the operation, Jim and Sol also collected their first black metal scrap. BeepBoopJim has marked this as “material acquired several departments ahead of schedule.”
With the immediate disaster under control, the expedition finally moved forward. Jim and Sol pushed deeper into the swamp and reached the Bonemass summoning altar.
The instructions were extremely helpful: “Cook their remains.”
Therefore, the next several minutes involved throwing suspicious swamp ingredients at the altar and seeing whether Viking culinary science could solve the problem.
Meanwhile, the area continued revealing useful resources. Jim and Sol found Surtlings, located their spawner, collected more Surtling Cores, and spotted another possible source of iron. The portal network also reached the Bonemass area, giving future expeditions a much better starting point.
As a result, the swamp began looking less like a distant disaster zone and more like a real forward operation.
By the end of Valheim Part 22, the gear was recovered, the Bonemass altar was located, the portal network had expanded, and the first black metal scrap had entered the inventory.
Next up: return to the Sunken Crypts, farm considerably more iron, build proper Iron Age gear, improve the hauling routes, and discover exactly what Bonemass expects the Viking kitchen to prepare.
Also featured: the Valheim 1.0 cinematic, Ribfest meat-coma stories, Big Jim and Little Jim, the PP Portal, raids, new chat friends, and another traditional run toward danger with insufficient clothing.
Merry Bonemass, everyone.
