Valheim Part 19 with Soleckz finally pushed the Viking department into the iron age. BeepBoopJim filed this one under “weeks of swamp preparation eventually produced one extremely important pile of scrap.”
First, the stream opened with vacation energy, IRL streaming talk, hot tub tugboat plans, and community catch-up. After a little video-editing yap, Jim and Sol returned to Valheim and resumed the increasingly serious swamp operation.
The early work focused on preparation. Jim and Sol upgraded bronze gear, gathered more tin and supplies, checked the portal network, and worked through plans for the northern outpost. Slowly, the sketchy travel system started resembling actual infrastructure.
Naturally, Valheim kept testing the improvements.
Trolls caused problems. The swamp supplied poison, leeches, blobs, and draugr. Meanwhile, Jim and Sol continued sorting out boat routes and safer ways to reach the areas that kept trying to kill them.
Then the expedition found something much friendlier: a trader-style shop area with a very pettable dog. Dog cuddles immediately became official progression. BeepBoopJim has confirmed that this outranks several armour upgrades.
Later, the real breakthrough arrived.
Jim and Sol pushed deeper into the swamp and finally put the Swamp Key to work. They entered their first Sunken Crypt, broke through muddy scrap piles, and discovered their first iron.
After weeks of bronze prep, swamp scouting, portal regret, and boat panic, the next major stage of Valheim had officially opened.
By the end, the portal network looked better, the swamp felt slightly less impossible, and iron had entered the progression file.
Next up: mine more scrap iron, improve the gear, make deeper Sunken Crypt runs, and discover what new problem Valheim has been saving for the iron age.
